The VIRTUE of Inside and Outside Shoes

This is cool. Where else can I talk about Jen in a forum where she has asked me to mock all the crazy things we do and say.

For my first entry - I must discuss the thing that all of you use to define my OCD...What is wrong with having inside shoes and outside shoes? Let's review the pros and cons.

Inside shoes = Clean. Need I say more? (actually you will find I use few words whereas my fiance will go on and on and on....).

Outside shoes = dog shit, dirt, gum, snow, mud = MESSY. Things that are outside things should stay outside.

We are considering getting a dog. Laurie has asked how I will deal with the dog's inside/outside paws (I have Jen trained well)...I think it will be easy to clean his/her paws everytime he/she enters the house.

First time visitors and our mothers get a pass. All others - remember Jay's rule #1. My house, my rules. (Unless, of course, they conflict with Jen's rules...then revert the Jen's rule #1).

Jay I am totally with you about the outside shoes - from one OCD sufferer to another. It is not ok to walk through my garage where mice congregate on occasion thus bringing their matter onto my kitchen floor where my children spread out my pots and pans and have a jamboree. Thanks for inviting me to your blog. Cute!

Question;
Why have inside shoes at all and just wear shoes when you need them?

Just wondering as this would eliminate one step and time wasted on lining up the clean inside shoes and making sure they are not near the dirty outside shoes.

Oh, Rob...Oh, Rob. How little you understand Jay's OCD. He could never walk barefoot or in socks...that would just not happen. I am not even sure he goes in the ocean barefoot. I will check on that during the honeymoon.

Rob & Jen,

Come on now!! Rob stop applying so much logic. Inside shoes are for the INSIDE. Outside shoes are for the OUTSIDE. Eliminating one step in the process means my floors would be that much dirtier, and in need of a clean that much sooner. I have had to vacuum my basement floor so many times because of the collection of dirt. If I have dirty INSIDE shoes, they are immediately relegated to the OUTSIDE shoe line, which are neatly lined up on the side of the INSIDE shoes.

By the way, when I go in the ocean I have WATER shoes, which are classified as OUTSIDE. When I am on the beach, I don't like to get the sand in between my toes so I wear SAND shoes which are also classified as OUTSIDE.

And, just like I have INSIDE & OUTSIDE shoes, I have INSIDE & OUTSIDE bikes.

Doesn't anybody have any order in their life?
